Dec 2, 2014 – Good Afternoon Hardisty,
Today was a true test of our emergency preparedness and I would like to thank our Public Works team and their assistants, the office staff, along with GCS Energy Services for providing immediate response to not (1) but (2) critical incidents. To our first responders and the Hardisty Health Center in preparing for what may have been a major incident. For those of you wondering why there were temporary road blocks leading onto 48th Ave. this was implemented in order to prepare for the reception of emergency vehicles and their responders to make way to the Hardisty Health Center. The Town of Hardisty would also like to thank ALL those companies involved in the transportation of dangerous goods (Gibson’s Energy, Flint Hills/Plains & etc) who rerouted their trucks temporarily in order to avoid congestion of traffic and provide a safe environment on 881 in preparation of emergency vehicles in transit to the Hardisty Health Center and to our Hardisty Fire Dept. who also were called to an in town fire call out at a local business at the same time. By ALL of us working together our community provided a safe environment in the midst of 2 incidents. Our thoughts go out to the family involved in critical incident #1.
